How to check remaining coverage on a VIN
- Find the 17-character VIN on the plate at the driver's side of the dashboard, on the driver-side doorframe label, or on the registration and title.
- Enter the VIN in Mopar Vehicle Resources or the Chrysler brand vehicle dashboard, which can be searched by VIN without creating an account.
- Read the in-service date from that record and measure the 3-year/36,000-mile and 5-year/60,000-mile terms forward from it, not from the model year.
- Check the odometer against both mileage caps, since each coverage ends at whichever limit arrives first.
- On a Pacifica Plug-in Hybrid, ask separately about the high voltage battery term, which depends on whether the vehicle was originally sold in a TZEV state.
Does the warranty transfer to a second owner?
Stellantis states that the FCA new vehicle limited warranty stays with the vehicle and is transferable to the second owner, and Mopar confirms the 5-year/60,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty transfers too, so a used Chrysler carries the balance of its factory coverage to you. There is no reduced second-owner powertrain tier, though separately purchased extended service contracts may impose their own transfer conditions.
What a warranty check cannot tell you
- Whether previous damage or modification has voided coverage on a specific component.
- Whether required maintenance was performed — manufacturers can deny claims where servicing was neglected.
- Anything about title brands, accident history, or odometer records; those are separate VIN checks.
- The status of open safety recalls. Eligible remedies are generally free regardless of warranty, but federal no-charge coverage has a vehicle-age limit.
