How to check remaining coverage on a VIN
- Find the 17-character VIN on the plate at the driver's side of the dashboard, on the driver-side doorframe label, or on the registration and title.
- Enter the VIN in Mopar Vehicle Resources or the Dodge brand vehicle dashboard, which can be searched by VIN without setting up an account.
- Note the in-service date the record shows, then measure the 3-year/36,000-mile and 5-year/60,000-mile terms forward from that date rather than from the model year.
- Check the odometer against both mileage caps, because each coverage ends at whichever limit is reached first.
- Ask a Dodge dealer to confirm anything the online record leaves unclear, and to check whether a FlexCare service contract is attached to the VIN.
Does the warranty transfer to a second owner?
Stellantis states that the FCA new vehicle limited warranty stays with the vehicle and is transferable to the second owner, and the Mopar coverage page says the 5-year/60,000-mile Powertrain Limited Warranty transfers as well, so a new owner is covered for the balance of the term. There is no reduced second-owner powertrain tier on Dodge, though separately purchased extended service contracts can carry their own transfer restrictions.
What a warranty check cannot tell you
- Whether previous damage or modification has voided coverage on a specific component.
- Whether required maintenance was performed — manufacturers can deny claims where servicing was neglected.
- Anything about title brands, accident history, or odometer records; those are separate VIN checks.
- The status of open safety recalls. Eligible remedies are generally free regardless of warranty, but federal no-charge coverage has a vehicle-age limit.
