How to check remaining coverage on a VIN
- Decode the 17-character VIN to confirm the model, model year, and whether the vehicle is a Mercedes-EQ electric model or a plug-in hybrid, because battery coverage differs sharply between them.
- Find the in-service date, meaning the date of retail delivery or when the vehicle was first put into service. The 4-year/50,000-mile clock starts there, not at the model year.
