These are Nissan’s published U.S. coverage periods for new vehicles. Each runs from the warranty start date, and whichever limit — time or mileage — is reached first ends that coverage.

How to check remaining coverage on a VIN
- Find the 17-character VIN on the driver-side dashboard, the driver door jamb label, the title, or the insurance card.
- Open nissanusa.com/owners/warranty-and-protection.html and use the warranty guide selector to pull the exact booklet for that model and year.
- Ask a Nissan dealer for the in-service date attached to the VIN — coverage runs from first delivery, not from the model year or from your purchase.
- Compare the odometer and the elapsed time to each published period. Whichever limit is reached first ends that particular coverage.
- Run the VIN through Nissan's free recall lookup at nissanusa.com/owners/recalls-vin.html. Recall repairs are performed free at a Nissan dealer whatever the warranty status.
Does the warranty transfer to a second owner?
Nissan states its limited warranty is transferable to the next owner provided the transfer happens after the first six months of the original ownership and the vehicle is not registered outside the United States. That six-month condition is unusual among mainstream brands and is worth checking on a nearly-new used Nissan.
What a warranty check cannot tell you
- Whether previous damage or modification has voided coverage on a specific component.
- Whether required maintenance was performed — manufacturers can deny claims where servicing was neglected.
- Anything about title brands, accident history, or odometer records; those are separate VIN checks.
- The status of open safety recalls, which are repaired free of charge regardless of warranty.
