The official route to an original GMC Monroney label, what federal law requires it to show, and where the trail runs out for older vehicles.

GMC does not publish a free public window sticker lookup. The GM link that circulates online, cws.gm.com, returned an empty file for every GMC VIN we tested in August 2026. The reliable route is a GMC dealer: their GM dealer system stores the original Monroney by VIN, and many will print or email a copy on request.
How to get a GMC window sticker by VIN
- Find the 17-character VIN through the windshield on the driver's-side dashboard, on the driver's door-jamb label, or on your title, registration or insurance card.
- Check your own purchase file first. On most GMC deliveries the original window sticker is stapled to the buyer's order or left in the glovebox folder, which saves you a call.
- Call the parts or service desk at any GMC dealer, give them the VIN and ask for the original window sticker or Monroney label. Selling dealers usually have the fastest access to their own delivered stock.
- Add the VIN to your garage at gmc.com/ownercenter/garage. GM Owner Center does not host the Monroney, but it gives you the owner manual, the warranty and owner assistance booklet and recall status for that exact VIN.
- In the meantime, run the VIN through a free decoder to confirm model year, plant, engine family and body style, which is enough to sanity-check a listing while you wait on the dealer.
What to know before you look
- There is no working manufacturer-hosted GMC sticker tool as of August 2026. The widely shared cws.gm.com/vs-cws/vehshop/v2/vehicle/windowsticker link still answers with an HTTP 200 and a PDF content type, but the file it returns is zero bytes for every VIN we tried, including 2022 through 2025 Sierra and Yukon models.
- A GMC Monroney label lists the base price and total MSRP, model and trim, exterior and interior colors, engine and transmission, standard equipment, each factory option or package with its price, the destination freight charge, EPA fuel economy and, on most labels, NHTSA crash-test ratings and parts-content information.
- A window sticker is not a build sheet. GM build data is often described through RPO codes, the three-character option codes printed on a label in the glovebox or spare tire well; that RPO list carries no pricing and is not the federally required consumer label.
- The sticker reflects only how the vehicle left the factory. It shows nothing about accidents, title branding, odometer rollback, open recalls or dealer-installed and aftermarket equipment, so a used buyer still needs a separate history check.
What a window sticker cannot tell you
- Anything that happened after the car left the factory: accidents, title brands, odometer history, or liens.
- Whether the options listed are still fitted, or still work.
- The current market value — the MSRP shown is the original suggested price for that model year.
- Whether open safety recalls apply to this vehicle; that is a separate VIN check.

Can I get a free GMC window sticker by VIN?
Not from GMC directly. GM has no working public window sticker tool as of August 2026, and the widely shared cws.gm.com link returns an empty file. A GMC dealer can retrieve the original label from the GM dealer system by VIN.

No. Testing in August 2026, the cws.gm.com window sticker endpoint returned a zero-byte response for every GMC VIN tried, including recent Sierra and Yukon models. It answers with a PDF header but delivers no document.
