Where free stops
The free layer answers “what is this vehicle?” It validates the 17 characters, then decodes identity: year, make and model, with factory specifications when the source returns them, plus the source name and the retrieval time. It does not answer “what happened to this vehicle?” Title brands, damage, odometer readings, ownership events, theft, liens and sales records come from separate history sources and are not established by a decode.
What you pay for, and when
The paid layer is one complete provider report generated for the exact VIN you submitted, delivered as the original provider PDF. One report is $14.99. A three-report pack is $29.99, about $10.00 per report; a five-report pack is $44.99, about $9.00 per report. Pack credits sit on the order until you spend them on the VINs you choose. On timing, the pricing FAQ is explicit: a charge can occur only after you confirm the VIN and continue through secure checkout. You can also read an original provider sample before spending anything.
