Personalized VIN report

One exact VIN. Only the evidence returned for that vehicle.

A personalized vehicle history report is generated for the submitted VIN; it is not a generic model summary. Confirm the exact VIN and review the coverage limits before purchasing.

What is available now

Four product states, kept deliberately separate.

A live decoder, a limited provider preview, a fixed sample, and a purchased report do not prove the same things.

VIN identity decode

Enter a valid 17-character VIN to inspect available factory identity and specification fields with source and retrieval context.

Live production preview

ClearVIN VIN preview

A submitted VIN can return limited live provider indicators before purchase. The preview is VIN-specific but is not the complete report.

Published

Original ClearVIN sample

The original test-environment PDF is available without rewriting, restyling, or removing provider content.

Live

Report for your VIN

Licensed report purchasing is active for the exact submitted VIN.

Preview, sample, or report?

Three useful views. Three different purposes.

These labels prevent a limited preview or fixed example from being mistaken for a complete VIN-specific report.

ClearVIN production preview

Limited live indicators returned for the submitted VIN before purchase. It is VIN-specific, but it does not create or replace the complete provider report.

Report scope

Personalized means VIN-specific—not guaranteed complete.

A personalized report can show only the records and categories actually returned for that VIN. Each category keeps its own source, retrieval time, result, and coverage state.

Read the coverage methodology
Vehicle identity

Year, make, model, specifications, and assembly details available from VIN decoding sources.

Title and brands

Returned title, salvage, junk, rebuilt, flood, lemon, or other brand records when covered.

Damage and total loss

Provider-returned accident, auction, insurance, junk, salvage, or total-loss context when available.

Mileage and ownership

Dated odometer readings, ownership estimates, sales events, and gaps in the returned timeline.

Safety recalls

Campaign information with VIN applicability or repair status confirmed separately when required.

Market context

Comparable listings, photos, prices, and estimates only where the active provider coverage supplies them.

The reporting standard

Four rules that protect the meaning of every result.

These rules apply before presentation, marketing, or a buying recommendation.

01

Exact VIN first

Confirm the submitted VIN and vehicle identity before any report is ordered or interpreted.

02

Provider report unchanged

The complete ClearVIN document remains in its original provider format without removing content or disclaimers.

03

Unknown stays unknown

No record, no coverage, source outage, and a confirmed clean result remain distinct states.

04

Inspection still required

Database records guide the next questions; they do not establish current mechanical or structural condition.

NMVTIS and coverage limits

A report reduces uncertainty. It cannot remove every unknown.

NMVTIS is a title and brand history source, not a complete repair-history system. Reporting time frames and non-NMVTIS provider categories can also vary.

Consumer rule

A missing event is not proof that the event never happened. Always verify the physical vehicle and documents.

01 · DATA SCOPE

Title history is not repair history

The National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) is an electronic system that contains information on certain automobiles titled in the United States. NMVTIS is intended to serve as a reliable source of title and brand history for automobiles, but it does not contain detailed information regarding a vehicle’s repair history. All states, insurance companies, and junk and salvage yards are required by federal law to regularly report information to NMVTIS.

02 · TIMING

Coverage and updates can vary

However, NMVTIS does not contain information on all motor vehicles in the United States because some states are not yet providing their vehicle data to the system. Currently, the data provided to NMVTIS by states is provided in a variety of time frames; while some states report and update NMVTIS data in “real-time” (as title transactions occur), other states send updates less frequently, such as once every 24 hours or within a period of days.

03 · PHYSICAL CHECK

Records do not replace an inspection

Information on previous, significant vehicle damage may not be included in the system if the vehicle was never determined by an insurance company (or other appropriate entity) to be a “total loss” or branded by a state titling agency. Conversely, an insurance carrier may be required to report a “total loss” even if the vehicle’s titling-state has not determined the vehicle to be “salvage” or “junk.” A vehicle history report is NOT a substitute for an independent vehicle inspection.
