Ram Warranty Check by VIN
Ram’s published coverage periods, how the warranty start date is set, and what carries over to a second owner.
A car built in one year and sold the next carries a start date that only the manufacturer’s record confirms.
Ram warranty status is keyed to the VIN and its in-service date. Sign in to the Ram Vehicle Dashboard or to Mopar Vehicle Resources and enter the VIN; ramtrucks.com states you can search by VIN without a dashboard account. A Ram dealer can print the same report. Check carefully whether the 2026 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain extension applies, because it is original-owner only.
Ram factory warranty coverage
These are Ram’s published U.S. coverage periods for new vehicles. Each runs from the warranty start date, and whichever limit — time or mileage — is reached first ends that coverage.
| Coverage | Period |
|---|---|
| Basic / bumper-to-bumper | 3 years or 36,000 miles (selected wear items such as brake pads, bulbs, wiper blades and wheel alignment: 1 year or 12,000 miles) |
| Powertrain (standard) | 5 years or 60,000 miles on gasoline engines; 5 years or 100,000 miles on diesel engines |
| Ram Powertrain Care extension, 2026 model year | 10 years or 100,000 miles, original owner only, on 2026 Ram 1500 (including RHO), 2500, 3500, Chassis Cab and ProMaster; full battery-electric models excluded |
| Corrosion / rust-through | Outer-body sheet metal panels 5 years, unlimited miles; all other sheet metal panels 3 years, unlimited miles |
| Roadside assistance | 5 years or 60,000 miles on gasoline models |
| High-voltage lithium-ion battery (electrified models) | 8 years or 100,000 miles |
How to check remaining coverage on a VIN
- Locate the 17-character VIN on the driver's-side dashboard, the driver's door-jamb label, or your registration, title or insurance card.
- Go to ramtrucks.com/warranty.html and open Mopar Vehicle Resources, or sign in to your Ram Vehicle Dashboard. Ram states you can search by VIN even without setting up a dashboard.
- Enter the VIN to see the coverages attached to that truck and their terms, then note the in-service date the record shows.
- Compare today's date and the odometer reading against each limit above. Coverage ends at whichever comes first, so a high-mileage work truck can run out of basic coverage well inside three years.
- If the truck is a 2026 model, ask the dealer to confirm in writing whether the 10-year/100,000-mile Ram Powertrain Care extension is still active, since it ends when the vehicle is sold to a second owner.
Does the warranty transfer to a second owner?
Ram's standard factory coverage stays with the truck: Ram states the FCA US LLC new vehicle limited warranty is transferable to the second owner. The 2026 Ram Powertrain Care 10-year/100,000-mile extension is different. Mopar's own warranty document limits it to the original owner who bought the truck new from a licensed Ram dealer, so second and later owners fall back to the standard 5 years/60,000 miles, or 5 years/100,000 miles on diesel engines.
What a warranty check cannot tell you
- Whether previous damage or modification has voided coverage on a specific component.
- Whether required maintenance was performed — manufacturers can deny claims where servicing was neglected.
- Anything about title brands, accident history, or odometer records; those are separate VIN checks.
- The status of open safety recalls, which are repaired free of charge regardless of warranty.

Ram warranty questions
Is the Ram 10-year/100,000-mile warranty transferable to a second owner?
No. Mopar's warranty document limits the 2026 Ram Powertrain Care 10-year/100,000-mile extension to the original owner who purchased the truck new from a licensed Ram dealer. Second owners revert to 5 years/60,000 miles, or 5 years/100,000 miles on diesel engines.
What is the Ram factory warranty for 2026?
Ram covers 2026 trucks with a 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, 100,000 miles on diesel engines. Original owners of most 2026 models also get a 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain extension.
Does the Ram warranty cover rust?
Yes, but only rust-through. Outer-body sheet metal panels are covered for 5 years with no mileage limit and other sheet metal for 3 years. Surface rust from stone chips, scratches or road salt exposure is excluded.
