VIN LOOKUP · ONE-TIME REPORT

One VIN. One $14.99 history report.

For $14.99, VIN Lookup delivers an original ClearVIN vehicle-history PDF for the VIN you enter. ClearVIN appears on the DOJ provider list; VIN Lookup resells its report and is not itself listed as an NMVTIS provider. The report may include data beyond the NMVTIS core, but the records returned vary by VIN.

The VIN decode is free. No card is needed until you choose to buy; applicable tax is shown at checkout. A missing record is not proof that an event never happened.

What the $9.98 report contains

TitleCheck.us lists the current state of title and date of issue, previous title states, odometer readings recorded when titles were issued, current and previous title brands with the dates they were applied, and junk, salvage and insurance total-loss records. Vehicle specifications are added and labeled as information not provided by NMVTIS.

The site publishes clean, salvage and bilingual sample reports. Owner names are not included because they are protected under the federal Driver’s Privacy Protection Act. Its notes say some states report less frequently and that insurer and salvage reporting became mandatory only on April 1, 2009, so older events can be missing.

Price, billing and refunds

The homepage states $9.98 per report with no sign-up, subscription or recurring fees. That is cheaper than most commercial reports, but it buys the federal title core only. Its FAQ says a buyer is not charged when the NMVTIS database has no information for the VIN.

Refunds are possible if requested in writing within 30 days of purchase, provided neither the buyer nor a family member received an Auto Data Direct refund in the previous 12 months. Save the report and receipt as soon as it is delivered.

How to verify TitleCheck.us before you pay

On October 8, 2026, the DOJ approved-provider page listed Titlecheck.us as one of twelve primary providers for public and commercial customers; Auto Data Direct’s add123.com appears separately under commercial-only providers. Open the list from vehiclehistory.bja.ojp.gov rather than from a link on a seller’s site, and confirm the exact domain you are about to pay. Lookalike domains and resellers that are not listed cannot sell an official NMVTIS report.

An approved listing confirms access to the federal NMVTIS title core. It does not certify the accuracy of commercial add-ons, a renewal schedule or a refund policy. Record the total due today, any later charge, the number of VINs covered and how long the report stays downloadable, then compare that with a $14.99 one-time report before you choose.

Buyer checklist

  1. Verify the VIN on the vehicle.
  2. Buy the $9.98 report if you need title brands and total-loss records.
  3. Save the PDF and receipt.
  4. Check recalls at NHTSA.
  5. Get a commercial report or inspection for accidents and repairs.

What this research cannot prove

  • NMVTIS excludes accident, repair and service history by design.
  • State and insurer reporting timeliness varies.
  • Prices can change; confirm at checkout.
