One VIN. One $14.99 history report.
For $14.99, VIN Lookup delivers an original ClearVIN vehicle-history PDF for the VIN you enter. ClearVIN appears on the DOJ provider list; VIN Lookup resells its report and is not itself listed as an NMVTIS provider. The report may include data beyond the NMVTIS core, but the records returned vary by VIN.
The VIN decode is free. No card is needed until you choose to buy; applicable tax is shown at checkout. A missing record is not proof that an event never happened.Original provider PDF

Prices displayed on October 8, 2026
The vehicle-history cards on VINData’s pricing page showed one report at $19.99 and three reports at $9.99 each, with a window sticker report at $4.99. The order page added an unlimited option at $0.99 per report plus $20.00 a month; the terms behind its asterisk were not displayed.
Body text elsewhere on the same pricing page said consumers pay as little as $3.49 per title and history report and that window stickers cost $9.99. Earlier comparisons, including ours from August 2026, reported the $3.49 figure. When a provider’s own page shows two prices, the checkout total is the only number to rely on.

What VINData says the report covers
VINData’s homepage lists over 70 current and historical title brands, junk and salvage records from yards, dismantlers, auctions and insurers, odometer readings from titles and other sources, open liens with the lender name and loan date, active and recovered theft records, and collision information from limited state and federal sources. Its FAQ says not all accidents are reported to it.
The refund rule is narrow: a full refund for a title-data error proven with a state title document from a participating NMVTIS state, and no refunds for missing records such as owners, recent odometer readings or accidents.
How to verify VINData before you pay
On October 8, 2026, the DOJ approved-provider page listed Vindata.com as one of twelve primary providers for public and commercial customers. Open the list from vehiclehistory.bja.ojp.gov rather than from a link on a seller’s site, and confirm the exact domain you are about to pay. Lookalike domains and resellers that are not listed cannot sell an official NMVTIS report.
An approved listing confirms access to the federal NMVTIS title core. It does not certify the accuracy of commercial add-ons, a renewal schedule or a refund policy. Record the total due today, any later charge, the number of VINs covered and how long the report stays downloadable, then compare that with a $14.99 one-time report before you choose.
Buyer checklist
- Run the free record check first.
- Compare the checkout total with the $19.99 card.
- Avoid the monthly plan unless you research many cars.
- Save the report and receipt.
- Confirm theft at NICB and recalls at NHTSA.
What this research cannot prove
- VINData’s page showed conflicting prices; the checkout amount governs.
- Accident coverage is described by VINData as limited.
- Prices were read from outside the United States and may differ by visitor.
