VinInspect.com is listed by the DOJ as an additional website of EpicVIN, an approved NMVTIS provider, and its pricing page says it is powered by EpicVin Inc. On October 8, 2026, it showed one report for $14.99, four for $29.99 and sixteen for $84.99. Its homepage “as little as $1” price applies only to a trial of its unlimited subscription, which renews automatically unless cancelled. Refunds are limited to an empty report or a double charge, requested within 14 days.

  • The $14.99 single report and the packs are distinct from the $1 trial.
  • The trial renews automatically; its renewal price was not displayed before checkout.
  • Subscription fees are non-refundable except where law requires.
  • A sample report for a 2018 BMW X5 is public.
VIN LOOKUP · ONE-TIME REPORT

One VIN. One $14.99 history report.

For $14.99, VIN Lookup delivers an original ClearVIN vehicle-history PDF for the VIN you enter. ClearVIN appears on the DOJ provider list; VIN Lookup resells its report and is not itself listed as an NMVTIS provider. The report may include data beyond the NMVTIS core, but the records returned vary by VIN.

The VIN decode is free. No card is needed until you choose to buy; applicable tax is shown at checkout. A missing record is not proof that an event never happened.

The VinInspect pricing page listed one report at $14.99, four reports at $29.99 (about $7.50 each) and sixteen at $84.99 (about $5.31 each). The homepage headline offering a report for as little as $1 carries a footnote: the price is available with a trial subscription to the unlimited package.

Its terms say subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled from the account and that fees may vary by plan, promotion, channel and region. The renewal amount was not shown on pages we could read.

Contents and refunds

VinInspect lists vehicle services, major accidents, warranty information, open recalls, odometer readings, auction sales, total loss, airbag deployment, title brands, theft records, lemon brands and salvage information among report categories. Coverage still depends on what was reported for the VIN.

Its refund policy accepts requests within 14 days for an empty report or a double charge. Inaccurate, incomplete or late reports and a failure to cancel before renewal are listed as invalid reasons; once a subscription has started, a refund may be reduced by the cost of a full report, which the policy describes as normally priced at $49.99.

How to verify VinInspect before you pay

On October 8, 2026, the DOJ approved-provider page listed Vininspect.com and VinGurus.com as additional websites owned by EpicVIN, one of twelve primary providers. Open the list from vehiclehistory.bja.ojp.gov rather than from a link on a seller’s site, and confirm the exact domain you are about to pay. Lookalike domains and resellers that are not listed cannot sell an official NMVTIS report.

An approved listing confirms access to the federal NMVTIS title core. It does not certify the accuracy of commercial add-ons, a renewal schedule or a refund policy. Record the total due today, any later charge, the number of VINs covered and how long the report stays downloadable, then compare that with a $14.99 one-time report before you choose.

Buyer checklist

  1. Choose a single report or pack, not the trial, if you want a one-time charge.
  2. If you take the trial, cancel before renewal.
  3. Request any refund within 14 days.
  4. Save the report.
  5. Verify title brands and recalls independently.

What this research cannot prove

  • Renewal pricing was not visible before checkout.
  • Report contents vary by VIN.
  • Prices were read from outside the United States.
