See what the paid report includes →VinReport.com, operated by Vehicle Data LLC of Dover, Delaware, is on the DOJ list of approved NMVTIS providers. On October 8, 2026, its pricing page offered one prepaid credit for $19.95 and three for $38.90, credits that never expire, or a $1.00 seven-day trial with three credits that renews automatically at $29.95 a month for 30 credits. Its refund policy states all sales are final, with exceptions only for technical failures, duplicate charges or a report for the wrong VIN.
- Prepaid credits are one-time purchases; the trial becomes a monthly subscription.
- Cancel the trial before it ends to avoid the $29.95 renewal.
- “No Records Found” and missing accidents are not refundable.
- Its report claims auction listings, photos and sale prices where available.
One VIN. One $14.99 history report.
For $14.99, VIN Lookup delivers an original ClearVIN vehicle-history PDF for the VIN you enter. ClearVIN appears on the DOJ provider list; VIN Lookup resells its report and is not itself listed as an NMVTIS provider. The report may include data beyond the NMVTIS core, but the records returned vary by VIN.
The VIN decode is free. No card is needed until you choose to buy; applicable tax is shown at checkout. A missing record is not proof that an event never happened.Original provider PDF

Credits versus the $1 trial
VinReport displayed two ways to pay. Prepaid credits cost $19.95 for one or $38.90 for three, with the card stating that reports never expire and no subscription is required. The trial costs $1.00 for seven days with three report credits, then renews at the regular $29.95 monthly price with 30 credits a month and $2.95 per additional report. Unused subscription credits expire each billing period.
A countdown labeled as a special offer was shown beside the prices, so the amounts may be promotional. The trial is for first-time subscribers only.

What the report claims and the refund rule
VinReport’s homepage lists auction history with past listings, photos and sale prices, damage history, title brands including salvage, rebuilt, flood and lemon, odometer readings, insurance total-loss and salvage-yard records, and actual photos of the specific VIN where available. Its public sample, a 2014 Corolla, shows junk and salvage entries and auction records, several marked “No Images”.
The refund policy (version 1.0, December 23, 2025) says all sales are final. Technical failure, a duplicate charge or a report for the wrong VIN are the exceptions. Subscriptions must be cancelled at least 24 hours before renewal, and there are no prorated refunds.
How to verify VinReport before you pay
On October 8, 2026, the DOJ approved-provider page listed VinReport as one of twelve primary providers for public and commercial customers. Open the list from vehiclehistory.bja.ojp.gov rather than from a link on a seller’s site, and confirm the exact domain you are about to pay. Lookalike domains and resellers that are not listed cannot sell an official NMVTIS report.
An approved listing confirms access to the federal NMVTIS title core. It does not certify the accuracy of commercial add-ons, a renewal schedule or a refund policy. Record the total due today, any later charge, the number of VINs covered and how long the report stays downloadable, then compare that with a $14.99 one-time report before you choose.
Buyer checklist
- Decide between credits and the trial before checkout.
- Set a reminder to cancel the trial within seven days if you choose it.
- Check the VIN carefully: a mistyped VIN is not refundable.
- Save the report.
- Check recalls and theft separately.
What this research cannot prove
- Promotional prices can change.
- Photos and auction records exist only for some VINs.
- Prices were read from outside the United States.
