What VIN Mentor returns for $0
VIN Mentor describes its free output as public vehicle description: manufacturer, make, model, model year, series, fuel, body, country of manufacture, dimensions and engine attributes when available. That is the same general identity layer a buyer can obtain from NHTSA vPIC, and it is valuable for rejecting a listing that claims the wrong model or powertrain.
The page also accepts identifiers shorter than a modern 17-character VIN in some contexts. Do not force an older or foreign serial into the modern U.S. decoder. Preserve the identifier exactly and use manufacturer or marque documentation when the standardized VIN rules do not apply.
