Does the report include service or repair records?
Service records are not a listed VIN Lookup report category. NMVTIS does not include detailed repair history; ask for invoices separately.
Check the review date and linked sources for context. Live availability, prices and record coverage can vary by VIN, source, jurisdiction and time.
No. The NMVTIS disclaimer published with every report states plainly that the system does not contain detailed information regarding a vehicle's repair history, and service or maintenance history is not among the record categories the $14.99 report advertises. What the report can carry are title brands, odometer readings, reported accidents, damage, total-loss, theft and lien records, and auction and sales records.
- The NMVTIS disclaimer we publish says the system does not hold detailed repair history.
- No service or maintenance category appears in the report feature list or the locked preview categories.
- Repair evidence has to come from the seller, a shop or a dealer, not from this report.
What the disclaimer says, in its own words
The first paragraph of the NMVTIS Consumer Access Product Disclaimer, which we publish in full inside our terms, describes the system as a reliable source of title and brand history for automobiles that does not contain detailed information regarding a vehicle's repair history. That sentence is the reason we do not sell the report as a maintenance log.
The feature list for the $14.99 report matches it. The categories named are title brands, odometer readings with rollback indicators, reported accidents and damage, total-loss, theft and lien records, auction and sales records with prices, and the original provider PDF. The six locked categories on the free preview cover the same ground — title and brand, accidents and damage, odometer, ownership, sales and auctions, and theft, liens and total loss. Service history appears in none of them.
What to use instead for repair history
Ask the seller for invoices, parts receipts and inspection documents for any event the report does flag. That is exactly what our own sample explainer recommends after a damage record: request the repair file and compare it against an independent structural and safety-system inspection.
One caution about the sample. Our educational explainer contains a fictional timeline that includes an illustrative service line. Under our editorial policy, those explainer events are labelled as illustrative and must never be read as a promise of what a real report returns. The original, unmodified provider PDF in the sample center is the honest guide to format.
What this does not cover
- A report with no damage entry is not proof the vehicle was never repaired; cash-paid and unreported work reaches no database.
- Approved NMVTIS data providers may add condition data from other sources, so categories can differ between providers.
- The sample explainer's illustrative service line is fictional and is not evidence of report content.

Frequently asked questions
Will the report show oil changes or scheduled maintenance?
No. Routine maintenance is not a category the report advertises, and the NMVTIS disclaimer states the system does not contain detailed repair history.
If a car was in a wreck, will I see the repair invoice?
No. A reported damage or total-loss record can show that an event was reported, with the detail the source supplied. The repair documents themselves come from the seller or the shop.
Does a clean report mean no repairs were ever done?
No. A missing record is never presented as certainty. Unreported repairs and cash transactions can leave no trace in any covered source.
