Does VIN Lookup have promo or discount codes?

Only ever one, and only when it is running. If a code is active it is displayed on the pricing page itself — there is no hidden coupon to hunt for.

Answer

At most one, and it is never hidden. The store is built to accept exactly one configured discount code at a time, capped at 50% off, with no stacking. When a code is running it appears on the pricing page as a copy-to-clipboard chip stating the percentage, and the discount field appears at checkout. If you see no chip there, no code is currently offered — any coupon found elsewhere will be refused.

  • Only one code can exist at a time, and stacking two codes is refused outright.
  • An active code is shown on the pricing page with a copy button, not emailed or hidden.
  • No chip on the pricing page means no active code, and third-party coupons will fail.

How a code appears when one exists

The pricing page reads the live commerce status and, if a code is configured and checkout is operational, renders a promo chip: the percentage off, the code itself, and a copy button, with the instruction to paste it in the discount field on the payment page. The discount field is only offered at checkout while a code is configured.

That is the whole mechanism. There is no newsletter-only code, no first-order code and no affiliate code behind the scenes; the same single code is either visible to everyone on the pricing page or it does not exist. Because the ceiling is 50%, no code can ever take $14.99 below roughly half price.

Why a coupon from a coupon site will not work

Money leaving an order is decided by the server, not by the payment page. After payment, the store checks the discounts a payment carries: an empty list is fine, a single discount must match the one configured code exactly and stay within its percentage ceiling, and more than one applied discount is refused rather than paid. A payment that comes in under the floor price is rejected as an amount mismatch.

So an expired or invented code from an aggregator site cannot be honoured, even if a payment page appears to accept the text. If you believe a code should be working and it is not, the best move is to buy at the listed price or contact support with the code and your order details rather than retrying.

What this does not cover

  • Whether a code is running at all can change at any time; the pricing page is the only live answer.
  • The maximum a code may ever take off is 50%.
  • The current policy does not offer retroactive discounts on an order that has already been paid.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Where do I enter a code?

In the discount field on the payment page. That field is offered only while a code is configured, and the pricing page tells you to paste the code there.

Can I combine a code with a 3-report or 5-report pack?

The packs are already the cheaper per-report route — $10.00 each for three and $9.00 each for five, against $14.99 for one. A configured code is applied to the checkout you start; two discounts can never be stacked.

Do you run seasonal sales?

The current pages do not state any sale schedule. The pricing page shows a code whenever one is running, so check there rather than waiting for an announcement.
