Where is my order number or reference?

Your order reference is the first eight characters of the order ID in capitals. It is on the secure order page, on each My Reports card, and in your emails.

Answer

Your order reference is the first eight characters of the order ID, shown in capitals. It appears as 'Order reference' on the secure order page you land on after checkout, and as 'Order XXXXXXXX' on each order card in My Reports. Emails carry a reference line at the foot: 'Report reference' on a delivery email, 'Order reference' on an order-update email.

  • On screen the reference is eight characters; in email it is printed in full, and both point at the same purchase.
  • The reference is an identifier for support, not a key that opens a report.
  • Support also wants the checkout email and the last six characters of the VIN.

The three places it appears

You do not need to hunt for a separate invoice number: the same identifier is surfaced everywhere you can reach your purchase. On the order page it sits at the bottom of the order details, under the vehicle, the masked VIN, the masked delivery email and the amount paid.

Why the email version looks longer

Emails print the full identifier, while the screens shorten it to the first eight characters in capitals for readability. A report-ready email quotes the report's identifier and an order-update email quotes the order's, so the two lines can look different even for the same purchase. Support can work from either, so quote whichever you have in front of you.

If you no longer have the order page open, sign in to My Reports with the same email you used at checkout: every order card shows its reference alongside the date and the amount paid.

What this does not cover

  • The reference is not a credential: an order identifier in an email grants no access on its own, so quoting it does not let anyone open your report.
  • If the purchase was never linked to an account and the checkout browser has lost its access, the reference alone will not restore the order on screen — contact support.

Frequently asked questions

What should I send support along with the reference?

The email address used at checkout, the order ID, the last six characters of the VIN, and a description of the problem. Never email full payment-card details.

Is the order reference the same as my payment receipt number?

No. The order reference identifies the order in our records. Your card statement or payment receipt uses the payment provider's own identifiers, which we do not print on the order page.

Can someone open my report if they know the reference?

No. Report access is granted by a signed-in verified account or by the private access held in the browser you paid in. The identifier is a reference, never a bearer credential.
